What We Teach

Relational Wounding

Wounding in Relationships can Cause Destruction of Mind, Body, and Spirit

We believe that a person’s Mind or Soul, Body, and Spirit are interconnected, with each part influencing the others.  For example, long term stress originating from a traumatic incident not only impacts our mind, but can also impact our biological functioning and leads to various medical problems.  Relationship problems also tend to spread beyond the emotional territory to impact many parts of our daily functioning.  Our body works together much like the major parts of an automobile.  When the transmission on a car goes out, it doesn’t matter how much the engine revs up, the car sits still.  Similarly, when one of our three major parts malfunctions, we stop or at least slow down tremendously.

Past events, when left unaddressed, can impact current thoughts that actually set a person’s body into self-destruct mode.  Emotions such as bitterness, anger, fear, and shame can take root in our lives when we are wounded in relationships.  The longer these emotions are rooted, the more deeply the root grows to drive our conscious and unconscious motives and decisions.  The bible says, “See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many” (Heb. 12:15).  If allowed to grow within us, this bitter root can create major problems for our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
